Exhibition "St. Isaac's Cathedral. The history of creation"
The history of creation of St. Isaac's Cathedral keeps a lot of secrets. So, for example, it turns out that the original monument was adorned with paintings by Karl Briullov, Fyodor Bruni and other famous artists, but by the mid-nineteenth century works were replaced by mosaics. Sketches and cartoons of art are kept in collections of the Russian Museum and rarely exhibited because of the impressive sizes.
In the Benois wing you can see the unique projects that tell the story and not the implemented plan.
Vernissage — August 22 at 16:00.
